001 [Accidental Video]

[The feed clicks on by accident and seems to drop to the ground - a cyan-haired pony is shown walking around Vaniville, obviously very confused. She doesn't say anything, but when it shows her face, it seems she's just staring curiously at everything. She doesn't really know what to make of the strange creature that was following her around, either. It didn't seem hostile, but it seemed to just be studying her, like it was seeing through her and reading her thoughts.

It seemed even more interested in studying her than the humans in the town, since, well, she wasn't human at all. Eventually she looked back at it and waited, as the Ralts simply stared.

Someone tell this poor pony what the heck's going on here.]

[That mare....she recognized that mare. Wasn't that the pony that Rarity knew during that one week in Manehattan?

She hesitates for a moment. She wanted to help, but she wasn't sure if her current form would be...very reassuring.

Still...she had to try something.]

Y-You're...Coco...right?

H-huh? [She looked around, before finding the dropped holocast and peering down at it. She didn't really recognize the figure it was showing. Sure, a couple of features reminded her of somepony she saw recently... but she certainly didn't look like a pony. Still... she knew Coco's name.]

U-um... yes. I'm Coco. How do you know my name...?

U-Um...well...I-I know you might not recognize me, but...my name is Fluttershy. I'm...one of Rarity's friends...

['Rarity.' Then it slightly clicks in her mind... she does look similar to one of Rarity's friends.]

But... you don't... look like a pony... [But she has wings like a pegasus... just like that pink-maned pegasus that was with Rarity that day.]

It's...this place...Sometimes being taken out of your home world...can change your form...

[And it's about now that Coco realizes staring like that is really rude.]

O-oh, I'm so sorry! [She looks down.] I don't mean to be rude! [She looks back at the visual.] It's just... this place is so weird. I've never seen anything like it. There's creatures I've never encountered, and I haven't seen one pony yet. ... Well, anypony that looks like a pony. But it kept me as a pony somehow. [She looks at one of her front hooves. Yep. Still a pony.]

U-um, it's nice to meet you, Fluttershy.

[She smiles in reassurance.] It's all right...It's nice to meet you as well, Coco...

[At least officially.]

I've seen...at least two other ponies here...one I'm traveling with, but the other...I haven't heard from her, really. [She hopes she's okay.]

And apparently these creatures are native to this world...which is why we've never seen them before until now. They're called Pokemon...and most of them are pretty friendly...and we all start with one when we first come here. The one with you there, the Ralts, is your partner...

[The fact it's someone she kind of recognizes, and the fact that she's both nice and a friend of Rarity's, causes her to at least relax a little. She was still apprehensive about this new 'world'.]

Just four of us ponies right now? [That makes her a little nervous again.] Where are you? ... Actually, I don't even know where I am right now...

['Most of them' are pretty friendly... uh oh.] So this Ralts... is my partner... why is it staring at me like that?

[The Ralts seems to be trying to look friendly, at least. But she can't understand it.]

So far that I know of...More could come later, though. Right now, I'm...staying at a place called Cyllage City with some friends.

Well...maybe it just wants to get to know you. Have you tried introducing yourself to it?

Cyllage City? How far away is that from... wherever this place is? [Because she kind of wants to get to them if she can. Even though she doesn't realize won't be able to yet.]

Get to know me...? [She looks back at the Ralts, and stares again for a few seconds. Eventually, the Ralts does a little 'Ralts!' cry. Well... it wouldn't hurt to try, would it?] ... Um, h-hello there... ['Ralts!'] M-My name is... Coco... It's... n-nice to meet you, Ralts... [The Ralts jumps in the air a couple of times, letting out happy cries of 'Ralts!']

Mm...it's a bit far...We've been travelling for a while, but we've been staying put for a while so some of us could recover.

[The little cry has her smiling.] Aww....! See, she likes you!

Oh... so I'll have to travel alone for now...? [Not that she entirely minds it, just... new world and all that. She's still rather nervous.]

[She looks back at the Ralts and manages a smile.] She does, doesn't she... [Well, at least the Pokemon she started with liked her. That was a great start, right? Maybe meeting other Pokemon wouldn't be so bad...]

Oh, um...well... [She thinks for a moment. She doesn't want to leave someone alone.]

M...Maybe I can go back for you...? We can meet each other on the way...

Oh, no, you don't have to do that for me... eventually I'll catch up to you, right? [Eventually.] Is there a map somewhere I can use? [She, of course, has absolutely no idea how to use this technology.]

Mm...possibly...if we stay where we are for a while...

[And not keep moving even though some people were being really stubborn about it.]

I wouldn't mind, though...it wouldn't be too much trouble...

There's a map on the computer you were given...it's probably strapped around your hoof...

[She just really didn't want to burden Fluttershy with coming back just for her. Especially if she was already traveling with friends.]

I really appreciate it. But I... I should be okay. If most Pokemon are nice, maybe I can... bring more with me... they'd keep me safe, right?

[She looked at her other hoof.] Oh, so that's what this thing is. I wasn't sure... [She fiddles with it a little, and comes across the map.] Oh...! That's neat...

Mm...well, if you're sure...Just...let me know if you need me, okay? You can call me on these devices...

Just...be careful. Some Pokemon are really nice...but others are...a little more aggressive. In those cases, though, your Ralts can protect you...and you can catch more Pokemon...and be friends with them too...

I will... thank you, Fluttershy.

[As if on cue, the Ralts does a little pose and cries out happily to Coco.] I'll keep that in mind... she seems to want to help. How do I catch and befriend more Pokemon?

[She nods with a smile.] You're welcome...

Well...I generally talk to them, but uh...the most common way seems to be having Pokemon with you - your Ralts for now - fight with them a bit...and then catching them in a Pokeball...

[Reaching into her pocket, she pulls one out for reference.] Once they've been in the Pokeball, they're considered yours...Most people keep them inside, but I generally let mine out after I've caught them...

It sounds simple enough... but why would they keep them in the Pokeballs? It makes it sound like... like 'ownership' rather than 'befriending'...

[She nods in agreement.] Some people think of it that way too...but from what the Pokemon tell me, they can be quite comfortable in there. And sometimes, it is easier to travel that way...

[She couldn't count how many times they had been delayed because of the Pokemon wandering around.]

Plus, I have heard that some Pokemon are really big...and it's hard for them to fit through doors...

Oh, really? [Well, if it's comfortable, and they wanted to go in the balls... it'd be okay, right?]

Really big? I wonder what you'd compare the size of the largest Pokemon to... [...wait, did she actually want to know the answer to that?!]

Mm-hmm...at least, that's what I've heard... [Her Pokemon preferred walking with her.]

Goodness, I'm not sure. I've heard there are so many....

[Maybe she'd just leave it to their preference...]

So many...? Have they said how many there are? Or an estimate?

Gosh...I think I heard once that it was over seven hundred...

S-seven hundred? Seven hundred different types... oh my...

Mm-hmm...isn't that wonderful? And they could be discovering more every day...!

Y...y-yeah... [She wasn't expecting a number quite that high. But... she had her Pokemon to protect her... and maybe it wouldn't be so bad. She just had to think about the positives of there being so many unknown creatures out there...]

[Meanwhile, Fluttershy can't help but gush.]

It's so exciting to think that there are so many creatures out there! So many of them to get to know and to learn about, and maybe even be friends with...!

[She wasn't so sure about that. It was making her a little dizzy.] Yeah... it's wonderful...

[At least Fluttershy seems to realize that, and she smiles sheepishly.]

Sorry...I love all sorts of creatures, and the idea of so many of them out there is just...exciting...

[Fluttershy smiled and nodded.] Mm...And they're so much fun to talk to, as well...it's so interesting...

[She could literally go on and on. But she won't bore you.]

So... how many have you seen?

Oh, not too many yet...maybe a few dozen or so...

(The cat-like figure on the other end of the video swishes her tail. What a cute pony...seems like she could use a little help. Especially since she doesn't seem to know she dropped this.)
