[The video feed cuts on, and a quite rotund fellow is shown sitting back in a chair. He addresses the entire network.]

Fellow new inhabitants of Kalos, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Dr. Eggman, and I am currently researching the reason and the means of these... dimensional portals opening up. Like you, I was also brought to this place against my will, and since then have devoted my time and energy to finding a way back. You'll notice part of my handiwork, this network that you are all using. Using the existing technology that this world has to offer, I've enhanced the abilities of both the Holo-Caster you're using to view this and the PSS tablet you are wearing around your wrists. Or whatever you're wearing it around.

Anyway, the point of this broadcast is for me to... touch base with all of you. I understand that you are all the largest group to appear by far, and thus come from the largest collective worlds. I'm looking for knowledge that can assist me with enhancing the technology in such a way that would allow us to temporarily control the dimensional portals, and to open one up for those of you who would like to return home. Obviously not everyone wants to leave, but some of you would like to go home, yes? I thought so.

Great. It was the whole Lost Hex incident all over again. And that just happened the other day! Though it was strange that Eggman said he was here for a month.

He does calm down and sighs.]

Much as I hate to say it, we have to believe him for the moment. I'm definitely not going to say no to preparing for the worst, though. I don't want to know how he's going to treat the Pokemon here.

Well if he starts capturing small Pokemon and using them to power his bots we'll know for sure.

By the way, you're acting rather calm about this. I would have thought you would have objected or got angry.

[He did screw up hugely and hurt his buddy and almost got him turned into a robot.]

Well... I wanted to wait before bringing this up, since I kinda already knew, but... I suppose better late than never.

The short version is that I'm not the Tails you know. I'm actually from an alternate timeline where most of us ended up at an academy that was connected to quite a few worlds for a couple of years. I learned a lot of stuff while I was there, and dimensional portals were among those things.

At first I wasn't sure whether to believe the alternate timeline stuff or not, but I've met a lot of people back at that academy that knew me before but didn't remember me when they left and returned.

[To be fair, he has no idea how much has changed compared to if none of them had gone to the academy...]

What gave it away that I'm not from your timeline was you not knowing anything about Pokemon, whereas the Sonic I'm familiar with does. I'm actually turning 18 this month, if that gives any indication.

[Wow, he was not expecting that. It takes a moment for all that in sink in.] Huh, well, you're still my buddy regardless.

Whoa you're gonna be 18? Man, my little bro is all grown up now.
